How it all started...

A Church in the Community

Our church began when several Italian immigrants, through a revival in Philadelphia, came to Christ. That small group of believers gathered in Camden and formed a church in 1925. They first met in a storefront and then, moved to a grocery store - setting up for service, Sunday after Sunday, week-in and week-out.

In 1937, because of God’s provision and the sacrificial giving of those in the church, Kingsway purchased its first permanent facility on the corner of Broadway and Ferry Street. In the old bank building, God brought stability, blessing, growth and depth to our church. He poured out His Spirit and changed lives. The church was marked by passionate leadership, biblical preaching, and inspiring worship, with an orchestra and choir.

In the mid-1950s, the leaders gathered and decided to move the church into a new, rapidly developing community called Cherry Hill.

A Church for the Community

At Kingsway, we believe that we are not here on the corner of Chapel Avenue and Cooper Landing Road by accident. God’s great favor, blessing, and provision for us throughout our history is not for our benefit; it’s not so we can sit back and enjoy what we have.

God’s given us great leadership, ongoing growth, and long-term stability for one reason: to bring peace, prosperity - the hope of the Gospel - to our city. Within 7 miles of our church @200,000 people live. Communities like Cherry Hill, Haddon Township, Audubon, Mt. Laurel and Collingswood are filled with moms, dads, aunts, uncles, teenagers, and kids who do not yet know the love of God or who have hope in Christ.

We believe God has called us as a church to reach 1% of that population; to help 2,000 people find and follow Jesus. That’s not only our mission, but it’s also our history and our future. God’s faithfulness to us in the past, coupled with His faithfulness to us in the present, means that we can believe Him for a new tomorrow for the 1%.
