21 Days of Prayer & Fasting
January 6-26, 2020
Fasting disconnects us from the world.
Prayer connects us with God.
The goal of fasting is to draw nearer to God. Biblical fasting is about removing as many distractions as possible so we can focus on and hear from God. At Kingsway it is an annual reset button for our souls and renews us from the inside out. Remember, your personal fast should be challenging, but it is very important to know your body, the options, and, most importantly, to seek God in prayer and follow what the Holy Spirit leads you to do.
WEEK 2 (Sunday, Jan 12 – Saturday, Jan 18)
Sunday – Daniel Fast
Monday – Daniel Fast (7pm Prayer and Worship in CHL)
Tuesday – Juice & Water for Breakfast & Lunch, Daniel Fast Dinner
Wednesday – Juice & Water for Breakfast & Lunch, Daniel Fast Dinner (7pm All-Church Worship Night in CHL)
Thursday – Juice & Water Only
Friday – Juice & Water Only
Saturday – Daniel Fast (9am Prayer and Worship in CHL)
The Daniel Fast includes: fruits & veggies, brown rice, quinoa, nuts, beans, almond butter, popcorn, almond milk, coconut milk. Remove all sugars (including canned sugary fruit), sweeteners, animal products, meats, eggs & dairy (milk, butter, cheese), wheat, flour, processed fruit drinks, soda, alcohol and coffee.
*An important note to the beginner: If this is your first or second fast remember that 21 days is not a sprint, it is a marathon. Take the first couple days and slowly move into the Daniel Fast, if needed. If you haven’t already begun to ween off of sugar and caffeine, do so over a couple day period. As an example, day 1 have a cup or 2 of coffee and a couple spoonfuls of almond butter with honey to curb your cravings. On day 2 only have one cup of coffee and only one spoonful of almond butter with honey. Be sure to drink at least 2 liters of water per day.
REMEMBER the point is time with God in prayer, worship and Bible reading. Make sure to allot time for Him!
